High heels the calf muscle damage

Examination of the calf muscles of women users of high-heeled shoes found that calf muscle fibers shorten the average of 13% compared to those who do not wear high heels.
In a study published in The Journal of Experimental Biology was also found that high heels cause the tendons of the calf muscles tend
to stiffen.

Experts say for the adverse effect of high heels can be reduced by using flat soled shoes or doing
stretching exercises. Profeson research leader Marco Narici of
Manchester Metropolitan University said in the 1950s the secretaries who wear high heels say they have trouble walking normally when not
wearing high heels.
However, at that time no one saw it as interference in the muscle.
From a group of 80 young women, the researchers chose 11 volunteers who regularly wear high-heeled shoes 5cm over the past two years or more who feel uncomfortable when walking without heels.

MRI scans showed that there was no difference in the size of the calf muscles and users of high-heeled women who do not wear high heels. However, ultrasound scans revealed that the fibers of the calf muscles of the user perempun
high heels shorter than those who wear flat soled shoes.

When women are asked to lie on a couch, the investigators check on that corner of the heel that
is the major cause of shortened muscle fibers of the calf.
At the end of the study, researchers found that the muscle tendon of the user's high heels are
thicker and rigid than those who choose flat soled shoes.
This condition, said Professor Narici, create discomfort when walking without high heels because the tendons of the calf muscles simply
can not stretch.

Nevertheless, Narici thinking, women will not necessarily abandon their high heels.
"Although fashion has the potential for discomfort, but none of the women in our study plan to abandon their high heels," said Narici.
"We want to provide practical advice and I would recommend that they do a little stretching
exercises to combat the changing conditions of these muscles," added Narici.

One tip that might be useful, said Narici, was on tiptoe on top of the stairs and use the railing for
balance. Next, they lowered their heels as low as possible before to raise it again. A physical therapist and spokesperson for the
Licensed Community physiotherapist Sammy Margo says the study results that support the
allegation that has long existed in the minds of the physiotherapist.
"The advice we can give is to wear shoes for a variety of calf muscles to keep working through a
variety of movements," said Margo.
